The Arizona Cardinals will be without their defensive coach on the field for their game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Safety Rashad Johnson is among the inactives and will not dress for the game after missing practice all week. Along with Johnson, running back Andre Ellington will also not dress, as expected and reportedly early Sunday.
They do get Frostee Rucker back on the defensive line, which will more than counter the absence of Cory Redding, who will also not dress.
Here are the Arizona inactives:
QB Matt Barkley
RB Andre Ellington
S Rashad Johnson
DT Cory Redding
T D.J. Humphries
OLB Shaq Riddick
NT Xavier Williams
Williams returns to the inactive list after getting playing time while Redding and Rucker missed time. David Johnson will again get the start for Arizona for the third straight week at running back, while in the secondary it should mean Tony Jefferson will not have to come off the bench. It could mean Tyrann Mathieu will stay at safety the entire game instead of sliding down to play slot corner. Jerraud Powers could slide over and Justin Bethel come in when the Eagles go three wide. They also could keep doing what they have been doing in the slot and have either Deone Bucannon or D.J. Swearinger play safety. If Bucannon moved back, Sean Weatherspoon would come in at linebacker. However, with how Bucannon has played at linebacker, my bet is they will keep Mathieu at safety and use Powers in the slot.
Philly has seven healthy scratches.
