The 2016 Pro Bowl selections are out and the Arizona Cardinals figure prominently in it. Seven Cardinals, including the return of Larry Fitzgerald to the team, are set to appear in the All-star exhibition in Hawaii the week before the Super Bowl.
The Cardinals to make it are:
QB Carson Palmer
WR Larry Fitzgerald
G Mike Iupati
DT Calais Campbell
CB Patrick Peterson
S Tyrann Mathieu
ST Justin Bethel
While it is Mathieu's first selection to the Pro Bowl, every other player has been named to the team at least once before. Peterson, Campbell and Bethel all represented the Cardinals last year and Iupati went as a member of the San Francisco 49ers.
The Cardinals seven selections are the most for the team since 1977 (seven). This is the seventh time in franchise history that the Cardinals had at least seven players selected to the Pro Bowl in a season. It is also the first time the Cardinals have had three or more selections on both offense and defense in the same season since 1970.
In addition to these seven players, injured running back Chris Johnson was named a Pro Bowl alternate.
Mathieu will be unable to participate, as will Johnson because of injury, but Cardinals fans certainly hope for every Cardinals player to be ineligible. If they make it to the Super Bowl, they will not participate.
