Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians had high praise for his Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson. The Green Bay media asked during his weekly conference call what it has meant to have the corner play the Cardinals have had this season and said Peterson has been fantastic.
"Nobody in the league is playing better than Patrick," he said. "I mean, no one throws at him. Whoever he gets is canceled out and has been for most of the season."
Peterson will likely get matched up with Randall Cobb this weekend against the Packers, although he could line up against James Jones as well. Cobb has 70 catches for 777 yards, while Jones has 41 for 742. He has been their downfield target.
Arians was also very complimentary of Justin Bethel, who will again play a prominent role on defense. When the team plays nickel, Jerraud Powers slides over to the slot where Tyrann Mathieu had been all year and Bethel will play outside. Arians said Bethel has played "extremely well" when he has stepped in and he has been "the biggest guy to arrive" this season.
Against Aaron Rodgers, the Cardinals will need big play from the secondary. Will Peterson be able to again neutralize an opposing receiver this weekend?
