The Arizona Cardinals already reportedly have one linebacker set to be added in free agency, as former Atlanta Falcon Sean Weatherspoon is expected to sign a one-year contract with the team. But it appears the Cardinals are not done adding to the group.
The Cardinals are expected to bring in former Broncos linebacker Nate Irving for a visit this week. Irving has already been named as a player the team would target.
Irving started eight games last season for the Broncos before a knee injury landed him on injured reserve. In those eight games, he had 46 tackles, a sack and a safety. It was his first season being a full-time starter. He had started four games in 2013 and none in his first two seasons, when he appeared in 31 games.
He has pretty good speed and the Cardinals have been looking to add speed to the linebacking corps.
Signing Irving would give the team a group of the now suspended Daryl Washington, Sean Weatherspoon, Kevin Minter and Irving to be the primary players, with Kenny Demens and Glenn Carson to try and compete for a roster spot.
