Nebraska's Randy Gregory is considered one of the draft's top pass rushing prospects. He also comes with some concerns. He has had positive drug tests while in college and also failed his drug test at the NFL Combine. His draft stock has fallen a bit.
As such, according to Ian Rapoport, Gregory met with the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. He was never expected to be available at No. 24 when the Cardinals will select in the first round, but recent reports have him slipping, so the team naturally is doing its homework in case he is available when the Cardinals are on the clock.
Gregory, at 6-5 and 235 pounds, combined for 17.5 sacks and 25.5 tackles for losses in 2013 and 2014. He is a raw, physical talent.
Gregory has been busy. According to Adam Schefter, by April 22, Gregory will have been in a different NFL city every day except for Easter Sunday.
Would Gregory be a good pick for the Cardinals? They have been burned by substance abuse (Daryl Washington), but also have been rewarded for taking a chance on a kid who has had issues in the past (Tyrann Mathieu).
If he makes it to 24, should the Cards make his name the one to call at the podium?
