Arizona Cardinals 'could tempt' Vikings into trading Adrian Peterson on Day 2 of NFL Draft

Never mind, the rumors continue.

Well, it appears I lied. While it appeared perhaps the Adrian Peterson rumors would end with the most recent Charles Robinson report saying the Arizona Cardinals were "priced out" of the market, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport suggests things are not dead and mentions the Cardinals as the one team "who could tempt the Vikings" into making a trade for the superstar running back.

Appearing on NFL Network, Rapoport said, "if this trade was going to happen, it would likely happen Friday during the second and third rounds (of the NFL Draft).

"The Vikings have been very clear, publicly and privately, Adrian Peterson will either play for them or he will play for no one. but if one team is going to tempt them, the Arizona Cardinals are really that potential team."

The idea is if Arizona doesn't have a running back in the draft they really like in the first or second rounds, the could use their second rounder to acquire Peterson.

A second round pick would be much more palatable, but there would still be the question of Peterson's contract.

If the price is a first rounder, as has been suggested before, then the Cardinals are probably priced out. If the price can drop to a Day 2 or Day 3 pick, that is a different story.

So maybe the Peterson trade rumors aren't done. Again, for those who are tired of hearing about rumors, rest assured, they will die down after this weekend. If a trade is going to happen, it will happen between now and the end of the draft.
