The Arizona Cardinals have a need at outside linebacker. They could definitely use a good pass rusher. They have Alex Okafor, but in terms of sack production, there isn't a lot more than that at the position. So it is natural when mock drafts project one of the edge players to land with the Cardinals with the 24th overall pick.
SB Nation's Dan Kadar's recent mock draft projects the Cardinals will take Shane Ray with the 24th pick in the draft.
Ray's draft range is all over the place. Some think he's top 10 material, some have him dropping between the teens and this area and others completely have him out of the first round. At the NFL Scouting Combine, Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said he wants more speed at linebacker. Do you really think a man who rocks a Kangol hat has time to feed the media falsities? Ray is, if nothing else, a speed player.
Now, in fairness, this mock draft was published before the news of Ray's citation for marijuana possession. But it does show how far he could drop. He is projected by some as a top 10 pick. He could be a guy very hard to pass up if he is available at 24.
If available, would you take him, despite the foot injury concerns and the recent marijuana issue?
