2015 NFL Draft results: Jameis Winston goes 1st overall, Eagles don't trade for Mariota, only one trade

New, comments

Round 1 is in the books.

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

The first round of the 2015 NFL Draft is complete. Some things went as planned. Others were surprises.

As expected, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected quarterback Jameis Winston overall. Then, despite a flurry of rumors of teams, especially the Philadelphia Eagles, trying to trade up for the second pick to take Marcus Mariota, the Tennessee Titans select him to be their guy.

There were some surprise drops. Leonard Williams, who was considered by many to be the best player in the draft, lasted until the sixth pick. Receiver DaVante Parker lasted until the 14th pick. Bud Dupree almost made it to the Cardinals, but was taken by the Steelers at 22. Randy Gregory is still on the board after the end of the first round.

Some went earlier. Andrus Peat was the 13th pick. Todd Gurley went in the top 10 and Melvin Gordon went 15th.

There were two trades -- one where the Chargers moved up to take Gordon and the other was Denver movning up to take Shane Ray. Here is the first round, pick by pick.
