Arizona Cardinals OTAs: An early look at the offseason depth chart

It's too early to read into things right now, but it is a starting point.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

With the beginning of OTAs, we can get a first look at which players are the "starters" and which players will come off the bench. It clearly doesn't decide anything, but it does give us a starting point as to who is in the lead.

Based on one practice, here is where the position battles stand:

Offensive line:

At center, Ted Larsen worked with the first team. Free agent A.Q. Shipley saw work at center and right guard with the second team.

At right tackle, it was Bobby Massie. First round pick D.J. Humphries was on the third team on the second field to start things off. Bradley Sowell was on second team.

Defensive line:

The first team line was Frostee Rucker, Alameda Ta'amu and Calais Campbell. The other three players who subbed in and out on the first field were Matt Shaughnessy, Corey Peters and Cory Redding.

Inside linebacker:

There is no surprise here. Sean Weatherspoon and Kevin Minter were on the first team. Glenn Carson and newly signed Darryl Sharpton were the second team.

Outside linebacker:

Lorenzo Alexander and Alex Okafor were the "starters." LaMarr Woodley subbed in on nickel/dime sets.

Cornerback:

Obviously, Patrick Peterson was on one side. But it was Jerraud Powers as CB2 and Justin Bethel came in and practiced in the slot.

Safety:

It appeared to be Rashad Johnson and Deone Bucannon were the starters.
