Rookie mini-camp means the Arizona Cardinals get their first look at their draft picks and newly signed undrafted rookies. Because there are no veterans intended to be at these workouts, to do all the drills they want to do, they bring in a slew of tryout players. Last year they brought in 17, four of whom ended up getting signed to the offseason roster. This year it is 20 players who are trying to make their dreams come true the toughest way there is.

Here are the tryout players for this year's camp:

  • QB Phillip Sims, Winston-Salem State
  • P Hunter Mullins, UAB
  • QB Taylor Kelly, Arizona State
  • WR Keenan Lowe, Oregon
  • S Harold Jones-Quartey, Findlay
  • LB Zack Patt, Rice
  • S Brandon Person, Tiffin
  • RB Kirk Wilson, Shorter
  • LB Kion Wilson, South Florida
  • CB Jonte Green, New Mexico State
  • LB Nick Seither, Georgetown College
  • LB Jamar Chaney, Mississippi State
  • G Solmone Kafu, BYU
  • DE Laith Wallschleger, Delaware
  • NT Jaylen Jordan, Southern
  • C Kody Afusia, Hawaii
  • NT Bill Billups, Alabama State
  • C David Wang, Virginia Tech
  • G Daniel Munyer, Colorado
  • DE Alfy Hill, Winston-Salem State

These guys get thrown a whole lot of information and hope to make it show up on the field, so they can catch the coaches' eyes at least a little. Last year, of the 17 tryout players, four were signed to the offseason roster. One ended up spending the season on the practice squad (CB Jimmy Legree) and one saw some action during the season on the 53-man roster (RB Jalen Parmele).
