Brian Dawkins talks Arizona Cardinals, likes idea of Cards as NFC sleeper team

Someone has some belief in Arizona.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Can the Arizona Cardinals contend for the Super Bowl this season? The organization believes so. While many national writers and analysts do not think so, former NFL player and current ESPN personality Brian Dawkins likes the idea of the Cardinals being a sleeper in 2015.

He recognized the late season struggles the team had i n 2014 were the result of the quarterback injuries.

Dawkins spoke about new defensive coordinator James Bettcher and said that losing Antonio Cromartie is "huge."

With quarterback Carson Palmer, the key is staying healthy. That, combined with Andre Ellington staying healthy give them a chance.

So are the Cardinals a sleeper contender? Dawkins says "true."

We know we would like to believe they are more than at least sleepers, but with a quarterback who has never won a playoff game and is coming off ACL surgery, combined with a rookie defensive coordinator, being a sleeper is probably all that most can expect.
