2015 NFL countdown: 52 days remaining and a look at Cardinals uniform No. 52

This has been an uninspiring number.

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

With 52 days remaining until the Arizona Cardinals 2015 season opener, we now focus on jersey No. 52. There is not much to say. Only four players since 1950 have worn the number for more than three seasons.

Who is No. 52 now?

It is veteran linebacker LaMarr Woodley, signed as a free agent this offseason. It seems likely, but it is no certainty he will make the roster in 2015. He was a feared pass rusher, but has only sacked the quarterback nine times total since 2011, when he had nine sacks in a season. We don't know what we will get out of the veteran this year.

Guys like Monty Beisel, Zack Walz, Stewart Bradley, Jasper Brinkley and Brett Wallerstedt have worn it over the years.

The most productive of the 52s was back in St. Louis, when Charles Baker wore 52 from 1980-1987. He played in 109 games for the Cardinals, starting 62.

Go way back and you will find Marion Rushing. He played for the Chicago Cardinals in 1959, wearing No. 86. He was two years away from the game and then played linebacker from 1962-1965 as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals, wearing 52.

Do you have any memories of players wearing 52? It really hasn't been a great number. Who has been the best? See the comprehensive list here.
