We continue our countdown to the start of the regular season for the Arizona Cardinals. There are now 51 days remaining in the countdown. That means we look at uniform No. 51.
We have a lot of hope for the current No. 51. It is inside linebacker Kevin Minter, the Cards' second round pick in 2013. After not playing his rookie year and playing all 2014 with a chest injury. We hope he becomes a run-stopping stud in 2015.
There is a long list of 51s.
Paris Lenon wore it for three seasons and was loved by teammates and coaches, even though many fans were not thrilled with his play. He did rack up a lot of tackles.
Center Bill Lewis wore it from 1990-1992. He was a starter for three seasons, but only played six games in 1992. You can hear him from time to time on Cardinals pregame shows or on the radio or on TV locally as a guest host.
Another center, Tom Brahaney, wore it from 1973-1981. He was a backup for six of his first seven seasons and then took over the starting job, ending his career after having started two seasons in 1980 and 1981.
There are many more. See the whole list here.
Do you remember any of them? Who was the best of the 51s? Will Minter be that guy?
