2015 NFL countdown: 33 days remaining, Cardinals jersey no. 33

Another day, another number.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Today we look at Cardinals jersey No. 33 because there are only 33 days remaining until the Arizona Cardinals play their regular season opener.

No. 33 now belongs to running back Kerwynn Williams. Williams was brought in and spent time on the practice squad before coming out of nowhere to rush for 100 yards in his first game action. He is the team's backup running back behind Andre Ellington right now, but that could change as the team is looking to bring another guy in.

As a number, 33 has bounced around from running back to running back who doesn't do much. There are names like William Powell, Josh Scobey and Ivory Lee Brown.

But the player to remember is Willis Crenshaw, who was a big 6-2, 230-pound FB for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1964-1969. He rushed for over 2400 yards in his six seasons as a Cardinal. His best year was 1968 when he gained over 800 yards rushing, but he also led the NFL with eight fumbles. Whoops.
