The Arizona Cardinals have an actual football game this weekend against another team. They will open the preseason at home on Saturday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Like last season, whenever possible, I would host a Revenge of the Birds Radio (the site podcast if you didn't know already) episode where I interview a writer of the opposing team.
That is back and I had Arrowhead Pride writer Matt Conner come on to talk about the offseason of the Chiefs,
What did I learn?
Chiefs fans are very optimistic for the season and have postseason and Super Bowl aspirations. They share that with the Arizona Cardinals. They believe they could have one of the best -- if not the best -- defenses in the league. They feel they have a great secondary and we should know they have a great pass rush. If Dontari Poe is healthy, then the middle is secure, too.
Conner gave a very good evaluation of Alex Smith and expressed a lot of hope for the offense with the addition of Jeremy Maclin.
We learn a former Cardinal, guard Paul Fanaika, who signed a three-year contract in the offseason with KC, is in real danger of not making the team.
Conner speaks of the incoming rookie class and a little bit about Dee Ford, last year's first round pick. We talked about the huge contract doled out to Justin Houston and how some Cardinals fans thought it would have been worth the two first round picks it would have taken to sign Houston to the same deal here.
But have a listen. This was a great interview and these preview shows are one of my favorite things to do. You will notice the audio is much better, too, as I went away from the live stream of the show and recorded it offline. It sounds much better.
Enjoy the show. Download it directly here for offline listening later or use one of the streaming options below on this page. Use the player at the top or the bottom of the article.
