Arizona Cardinals snap counts from preseason Game 1

These don't mean a whole lot right now.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Preseason games mean a lot of participation for young players. Snap counts are skewed in that way. Nonetheless, let's look at what the playing  time looked like for Friday night.

Offense:

Quarterback: Logan Thomas, 36; Phillip Sims, 15; Drew Stanton, 9; Carson Palmer, 7

Nothing surprising here. One would have hoped Stanton could have played a little longer, meaning the offense would have done something.

Running back: Robert Hughes, 22; Paul Lasike, 18; Kerwynn Williams, 17; Stepfan Taylor, 11; Andre Ellington, 7

Hughes saw snaps the whole game. He was in there for a play with the first team and got several carries with the third team.

Receivers: Brittan Golden, 34; J.J. Nelson, 34; Jaxon Shipley, 30; Jaron Brown, 28; Trevor Harman, 16; Travis Harvey, 12; Ryan Spadola, 10; Larry Fitzgerald, 6; John Brown, 6

There was one play in the first drive where there were no receivers -- that is why Fitz and Smokey didn't have seven snaps. The young kids got lots of reps. Nelson saw time with the first team.

Tight end: Ifeanyi Momah, 37; Gerald Christian, 17; Garrett Sinclair, 13; Troy Niklas, 11; Darren Fells, 7

Momah got an extended look. It was up and down.

Offensive line: D.J. Humphries, 45; Ted Larsen, 45; Anthony Steen, 37; Jon Halapio, 34; Cameron Bradfield, 31; Earl Watford, 29; Bradley Sowell, 26; Lyle Sendlein, 26; Antoine McClain, 15; Nate Isles, 15; Jonathan Cooper, 7; Bobby Massie, 7; Jared Veldheer, 7; A.Q. Shipley, 7; Mike Iupati, 7

The first rounder got a lot of playing time.

Defense:

Defensive line: Ed Stinson, 37; Rodney Gunter, 34; Matt Shaughnessy, 25; Josh Mauro, 24; Xavier Williams, 23; Alameda Ta'amu, 13; Cory Redding, 8; Calais Campbell, 5; Frostee Rucker, 5; Corey Peters, 3

Linebackers: Kareem Martin: 45; Markus Golden, 41; Andrae Kirk, 40; Alani Fua, 25; Edwin Jackson, 23; LaMarr Woodley, 21; Gabe Martin, 19; Glenn Carson, 11; Kenny Demens, 11; Lorenzo Alexander, 9; Kevin Minter, 5; Alex Okafor, 5

The young pass rushers got a long look.

Defensive backs: Harold Jones-Quartey , 55; Cariel Brooks, 52; Jimmy Legree, 41; C.J. Roberts, 38; Ross Weaver, 33; Brandon Person, 27; Shaquille Richardson, 23; Justin Bethel, 16; Tony Jefferson, 13; Tyrann Mathieu, 5; Deone Bucannon, 5; Patrick Peterson, 5; Rashad Johnson, 2

Johnson was the third safety and considered a starter. He came in on dime sets.
