The Arizona Cardinals have lost a pair of players for the season. Safety Brandon Person suffered a knee injury in Arizona's Saturday preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs. It turns out he tore his ACL and the team waived/injured him to make room for running back Chris Johnson, signed on Monday.
Undrafted rookie outside linebacker Zack Wagenmann has also reportedly been lost for the season, according to ESPN's Adam Caplan. Wagenmann reported suffered a broken foot in practice.
Wagenmann went undrafted after he suffered a fracture in his foot during pre-draft workouts. Some projected him to be a mid-late round pick. Arizona signed him as an undrafted rookie, knowing he would not be able to practice right away. He had 17.5 sacks at Montana last season.
He began training camp on the NFI (non-football injury) list, but was removed and began practicing. However, after missing some practices last week and not playing in Saturday's preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Wagenmann was considered a practice squad candidate for this year.
The team could hold on to him through the preseason and place him on injured reserve, saving him for next year or, if they need the roster spot, they could waive/injured him, which would expose him to waivers to another team. If not claimed, he would land on injured reserve for the Cardinals.
