There are 42 days until Week 1 for the Arizona Cardinals. As such, we look at jersey No. 42, which has not been all that popular over the years.
Cornerback Damond Smith wears it now. You probably haven't heard of him. He was signed this offseason after spending last year on a Canadian football team's practice squad. Good luck to his making the roster here.
But what about years past?
There have been some fullbacks, but the guy to remember is safety Kwamie Lassiter. A Cardinal from 1995-2002, he made the team as an undrafted rookie in 1995, and worked his way up, getting part-time play for a couple of seasons. He really made an impact in 1998, when he intercepted eight passes. He became a full-time starter the next season, understandably. He even topped his 1998 season, picking off nine passes in 2001.
After Lassiter, there is a bunch of not much in terms of players mentioning with 42.
Do you have any 42 memories? The full list of players is here.
