Arizona Cardinals training camp: Injury updates, photos, highlights from Tuesday practice

What happened at practice?

The Arizona Cardinals had another day of practice in pads in the books. There were some injuries and a day off. There were some highlights. What was there to know from Tuesday?

A day off for Carson Palmer

Quarterback Carson Palmer was given a day off. It is a way to keep his surgically repaired knee fresh. Backup Drew Stanton got the first team reps. Stanton will get the same day off on Wednesday. The benefit is twofold. They get to rest their knees and it gives the guys battling for the third spot on the roster more reps, which will be crucial for the evaluation process. Logan Thomas got the second team reps and Phillip Sims the third team reps, which seems to show his continuing to be ahead of Chandler Harnish.

Injuries:

Shaquille Riddick will continue to miss time. There is the possibility he ends up on injured reserve. But we knew about that. Linebacker Sean Weatherspoon still sat out with a tweaked hamstring. Andre Ellington sat out again, as did David Johnson, also with hamstring injuries. Troy Niklas and Jermaine Gresham are still working their way to be ready to fully practice with pads.

Tight end Ted Bolser and linebacker Zack Wagenmann, who was recently taken off the NFI list, also sat out.

A few guys left practice to get looked at. Rookie tackle and first round pick D.J. Humphries left with a knee injury. Kent Somers reported it is not serious and could keep him out about a week. Running back Marion Grice also left the field to get looked at, as was undrafted tackle Rob Crisp and guard Earl Watford.

Highlights:

Jaron Brown made an insane catch on the sideline. Some compare it to the catch Odell Beckham made last year. Here is the video. You will see a photo as well down in the photo section. Alex Okafor looked really strong. Logan Thomas has looked much more consistent. Undrafted running back Paul Lasike has been blowing people up.
