Arizona Cardinals head coach addressed the media on Monday to discuss the first cuts the team made and to talk about the game on Sunday and plans for Thursday's preseason finale. Arians revealed some injury information, how some positional battles are heating up he also indicated no starters would play on Thursday. As for the quarterback position, it will be Philip Sims to starts the game.
As is expected, Arians will play no starters in the preseason finale. Carson Palmer will not play and neither will Drew Stanton. Logan Thomas and Phillip Sims will both get playing time at quarterback, but Sims will start.
Is there anything we can read into that? Perhaps, but Thomas is still listed ahead of Sims on the depth chart. Thomas played before Sims in the foist two preseason games. Sims entered first on Sunday and will also on Thursday.
What will it take from one or the other to separate himself from the other? "Consistency," said Arians. "None of those real bad plays. Just be consistent."
Arians said Earl Watford will start at right tackle and Bradley Sowell will move over to play left tackle for the game.
We might also see veteran running back Chris Johnson. Johnson was limited in practice on Monday. "Chris wanted to play the other night, just couldn't cut," Arians said. "He feels very confident he'll be able to play, and he wants to play in the game."
The same cannot be said for tight end Jermaine Gresham. He did not play on Sunday because he hurt his hamstring and Arians said it was "iffy" he would play on Thursday.
