NFL roster moves: Arizona Cardinals promote Kerwynn Williams from practice squad

Some believe he will have a bigger role than rookie David Johnson

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Well, once again Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians wasn't exactly telling the truth this week. After saying he was good with three guys at running back -- and those three guys were presumed to be Chris Johnson, David Johnson and Stepfan Taylor -- the Cardinals made a roster move, elevating running back Kerwynn Williams to the active roster.

To make room for Williams, they released veteran tight end Joseph Fauria, whom the team added last week as tight end depth. With all three other tight ends healthy now, he was not needed.

What is more interesting are the comments several reporters are making, believing that Williams would have more touches on offense than David Johnson in Chicago.

My initial reaction is that this is just in case and Williams would likely be inactive.

Will he get playing time or will the team lean on the rookie behind Chris Johnson? How many carries will guys get behind the veteran?
