The Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers for the first of two contests this weekend. This game will be at University of Phoenix Stadium. In what has become a yearly tradition, David Fucillo from Niners Nation and I exchange content to share on each other's site. It can either bring up hotly contested debates or some sense of unity between two fanbases who aren't super friendly to one another overall.
So today we ask this question of one another -- which player or players from the opposing team would you choose to be on your team. Instead of limiting ourselves to just one player, we picked one from each side of the ball.
Which Cardinals would you want on the 49ers?
Jared Veldheer - The 49ers desperately need help on the right side of the offensive line. I get that Veldheer is playing the left side, but I would not mind seeing the 49ers stick him at the right tackle role. That would go a long way in settling down an offensive line that is going to be inconsistent this season. Sorry, Erik Pears.
Calais Campbell - The 49ers drafted Arik Armstead, who has drawn some comparisons to Campbell. Why not have the man himself there to work with Armstead and boost that defensive line? I think the 49ers defensive line will round into form, but Campbell would be a nice option to add more impact depth to the defensive line. Glenn Dorsey and Quinton Dial have shown some things, but I think Campbell is a guy who could be more of an impact player, and less of the kind of 3-4 defensive lineman that just occupies blockers under the radar.
Which 49ers would you want on the Cardinals?
Carlos Hyde - I suppose one might want me to say Colin Kaepernick, but with questions about his improvement and with the level Carson Palmer is playing at, I think we are good at quarterback. However, a big, bruising bell cow of a running back like Hyde is who I would love to have. Cardinals fans will remember the excitement of having Beanie Wells early in his career. Hyde is a better version of the good Wells we saw when he was with the Cardinals. Can you imagine having Hyde as the Cardinals main runner? That would be fun.
NaVorro Bowman - The weak part of the Cardinals defense is at linebacker. There are questions at outside linebacker. At inside linebacker, the Cardinals are using Deone Bucannon to play. Kevin Minter is having a good year so far, but how can you not say you would take perhaps the best in the league at his position for an area of concern on your team? Bowman would be a fantastic fit in the middle of Arizona's defense.
Cardinals and Niners fans, now it is you turn to discuss it -- which player or players do you covet from the opponent?
