Well, being the day before an Arizona Cardinals game, it is time to run a game simulation on Madden 16 to see how the video game sees this matchup playing out. Last week, Madden predicted a Bears blowout victory over Arizona and the real game was a blowout the other way.
This time, it is much of the same. The Madden simulation predicted a 49ers 31-9 win at University of Phoenix Stadium. The Niners rush for 192 yards in the game.
The two teams trade field goals to start things off and then trade punts. Early on, the trend is Carlos HydeArizona has a chance to do something, as Deone Bucannon intercepts a Caolin Kaepernick pass, but then fumbles it back. The Niners turn that turned over turnover into a touchdown as they have all running plays to take a 10-3 lead.
The team trade punts once more and then the Cardinals move down the field near the end of the half, but settle for a 45-yard field goal to end the first half and trail 10-6.
Early in the third quarter, the Cardinals get another turnover, as Sean Weatherpoon intercepts Kaepernick, the ensuing drive stalls in the red zone and the Cards settle for a 27-yard kick from Catanzaro to pull within one at 10-9.
That is when the Niners take over.
Kaepernick hits Anquan Boldin for a 17-yard touchdown pass on their next possession. Eric Reid picks off a Carson Palmer pass and Kaepernick connects with Quinton Patton on another score. Late in the fourth quarter, the Cardinals turn the ball over on downs and then San Francisco gets one more touchdown on a goalline carry by fullback Bruce Miller.
Stats:
The Cardinals muster only 292 yards of offense -- 51 yards on the ground. Chris Johnson only gains 34 yards on 11 carries.
Carson Palmer is 27/51 for 241 yards and an interception. He was sacked once and fumbled once.
John Brown is the leading receiver with 11 catches for 91 yards.
San Francisco got 192 total rushing yards, 104 from Carlos Hyde on 26 carries. Kaepernick had 44 yards on 10 carries.
Kaepernick was a very efficient 19/26 for 197 yards, two scores and two interceptions. He was sacked once by LaMarr Woodley.
Tight end Vernon Davis led Niners receiver with six catches for 54 yards.
Madden was very wrong a week ago. Will it be again?
