No real surprises after the reports there were

The Arizona Cardinals finally announced their roster moves. A number of cuts were already leaked and we already know they have traded for quarterback Matt Barkley. But here are the players who were cut to get the roster down to 53 players.

  • T Cameron Bradfield
  • CB Cariel Brooks
  • CB Jonte Green
  • G Jon Halapio
  • WR Trevor Harman
  • RB Robert Hughes
  • S Harold Jones-Quartey
  • RB Paul Lasike
  • LB Gabe Martin
  • G Antoine McClain
  • CB C.J. Roberts
  • DE Matt Shaughnessy
  • WR Jaxon Shipley
  • QB Phillip Sims
  • G/C Anthony Steen
  • NT Alameda Ta'amu
  • QB Logan Thomas
  • S Anthony Walters
  • RB Kerwynn Williams
The team also placed tight end Gerald Christian, their seventh round pick, on injured reserve. Running back Marion Grice and cornerback Jimmy Legree were waived/injured. If they go unclaimed, they will land on injured reserve until they are healthy, after which they will get an injury settlement.

Highlights?

Arizona goes with only three cornerbacks and four running backs. Thomas gets cut after playing well in the preseason finale, getting replaced by Matt Barkley, for whom the Cardinals traded.
They stay with six receivers and keep five safeties.

This is not the actual final 53-man roster. There will likely be waiver claims, so the players who made it are not out of the woods yet.

We will keep you updated.
