Chris Johnson, LaMarr Woodley, others get new jersey numbers

The beginning of the real football season brought lots of roster changes. There were final cuts and there were waiver claims. There was a trade for quarterback Matt Barkley. Now there are a few jersey changes.

Here are the changes:

Newcomer Matt Barkley will wear No. 9. It previously belonged to punter Dave Zastudil

Running back Chris Johnson, who wore 27 in the preseason, is now No. 23. Marion Grice wore that number previously.

LaMarr Woodley now wears No. 56. That is the number he wore while a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Glenn Carson had it previously, while Woodley was wearing 52.

Defensive lineman Ed Stinson, who wore 72 all last year and in training camp, has changed to No. 91. Matt Shaughnessy had the number before.

Rookie defensive lineman Xavier Williams swapped No. 69 for No. 94.

Defensive lineman Josh Mauro, who wore 73 last year and through training camp, now is No. 97, which previously belonged to Lorenzo Alexander.

There were some newcomers to the practice squad. Here are those numbers:

TE Brandon Bostick -- No. 86

CB Leon McFadden -- No. 34

CB Robert Nelson -- No. 27

DE Lawrence Okoye -- No. 73
