2015 NFL countdown: 5 days till kickoff and Cardinals jersey no. 5

Just a few days away!

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

There are only five days left until the Arizona Cardinals kick off their 2015 regular season against the New Orleans Saints. So let's look at jersey No. 5.

There isn't much history. It now belongs to backup QB Drew Stanton. He led the team to a 5-3 record last season while Carson Palmer was hurt early in the year and later when he tore his ACL. Stanton, though, was unable to finish the season, as he hurt his knee against the St. Louis Rams as well.

Before Stanton, there have only been four other players to wear it.

The first was Gary Hogeboom, who was the first of the many players to start in place of Neil Lomax. After being a backup for many years in Dallas and Indianapolis, he was started 13 games in 1989.He threw 14 TDs and 19 INTs en route to a 5-8 record as a starter.

Kicker Greg Davis is a guy I remember. He was a free agent signing to replace Al Del Greco. He kicked in Arizona for six years and was pretty solid.
