The Arizona Cardinals have named their team captains. They have two captains each on offense, defense and on special teams. Familiar faces will lead the offense and the defense, but the special teams unit gets a couple of new ones.
As noted on the Arizona Cardinals team site, the offensive captains are quarterback Carson Palmer and left tackle Jared Veldheer. Veldheer is a new captain. Previously, it was center Lyle Sendlein. Palmer was a captain last season.
On defense, Calais Campbell and Patrick Peterson are again the leaders.
However, on special teams, the captains are both new. Long snapper Mike Leach and cornerback Justin Bethel get the nod. Bethel has now been to two consecutive Pro Bowls as the conference's special teams player. He certainly has some credibility.
There were more than 20 players who got at least three votes. It's safe to say that leadership will not be an issue with this team.
