Carson Palmer not only one to get playoff monkey off his back

There was a lot made about how Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer had never won a playoff game in his career. And it was noted during the game how he kind of looked like a guy who hadn't ever won one either, as he was far from the stud fans grew accustomed to seeing over the course of the season.

But he wasn't the only one to get that monkey off his back. Head coach Bruce Arians noted he got his own first playoff win.

In his Monday media session, he was asked about how it felt to get a win as a head coach as opposed to an assistant. "Oh man, I went over and wiped Carson's (monkey) off his back and he brushed mine off my back," he joked with reporters. "Those monkeys are good to get rid of."

He explained a little further in his radio interview on Arizona Sports 98.7 just after meeting with reporters. "It's hard to get that first win," he said. He worked under Jim Mora way back when on the Saints staff and saw how he never won a playoff game despite being a fantastic coach. Arians' only other playoff game as a head coach was last year, when his Cardinals set a record for offensive futility in Carolina.

Palmer had been 0-2 in the playoffs, and he only was on the field for two plays of one of those games.

Arians was 0-1.

Both have lost their monkeys. Both now have gotten that first one under their belt. Hopefully they get a couple more before this season is over.
