NFC West Standings: Seattle in Control Heading into Week 7

The Seahawks are in control, but the Arizona Cardinals can change that with one win.

With the current NFC West standings, the Arizona Cardinals remain in third place, despite a 3-3 record and current two game winning streak.

That’s what happens when you lose division games, but this Sunday Night provides quite the opportunity, with a Seattle Seahawks team coming into University of Phoenix Stadium with a two game lead over the Arizona Cardinals in the division.

A Cardinals win would put the Cardinals only one game back, but also give them the initial leg up in tie breaker scenarios, of course they have to play the Seahawks again late in the season in Seattle, but it is important to get that first win, because a loss would put the Cardinals in a virtual four game hole to Seattle in the division.

They would be three games in the loss column, but also have the first tie breaker, head-to-head record, going against them.

3-4 would not be a death knell for the playoffs, but it may be for the NFC West championship, since it would require the Cardinals getting a lot of help to get back into the division race.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Rams are right on schedule for their 8-8 finish on the season after dropping back to back games. The Rams loss to the Lions, despite maybe the best performance in Case Keenum’s career, has to be somewhat deflating, when you factor in it was the defense that laid an egg for the Rams.

This week, the Rams take on the visiting New York Giants… except they are both visiting… London. Set your alarm for the 6:30am Arizona start time to figure out whether or not the Arizona Cardinals end Sunday Night with a chance to move into second place in the division.

For the 49ers, it is about finding the right quarterback for Chip Kelly, so losses matter for them. They visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and look to continue to fight for the second pick in the draft, likely only behind the Cleveland Browns.
