Week 5 NFL Picks and Predictions

A look around the week five schedule with picks and predictions

NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Jets Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL is a cruel mistress, but I don’t care because the Arizona Cardinals won and won big so I finally got one right on Thursday Night Football.

Here are my picks for the rest of the weekend games.

Tennessee Titans at Miami Dolphins (-3.5)

The Titans are a team that just can’t figure out what they are good at, running the football, while the Dolphins just don’t know who they are yet. This game in Miami, give me Miami.

Dolphins 24
Titans 20

Washington Redskins (+4) at Baltimore Ravens

Washington has played well the last couple of weeks, I don’t buy into Baltimore fully yet either, but I think this is a good, high scoring affair.

Skins 31
Ravens 30

Chicago Bears at Indianapolis Colts (-5)

The Bears are just a bad team. The Colts are too, but they have the best player, so give me the Colts.

Colts 35
Bears 21

New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers (-8)

I wanted to like the Jets, I did, but with Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback, you never know what type of performance you are going to get. Add in that the Jets defense has been awful and the Steelers have the best offense in the NFL, yeah, eight points may not be enough.

Steelers 35
Jets 21

Houston Texans (+7) at Minnesota Vikings

I’d be really surprised if the Texans win this game, but I think they have enough to cover, despite how great the Vikings defense looks. This may be the last time I don’t buy into the Vikings though.

Vikings 24
Texans 20

New England Patriots (-11.5) at Cleveland Browns

You couldn’t make this line high enough with Tom Brady returning.

Patriots 27
Browns 14

Philadelphia Eagles (-3) at Detroit Lions

I am all in on the Wentz hype train, it’ll derail soon enough, but I don’t think Detroit is the team to do that.

Atlanta Falcons (+6.5) at Denver Broncos

The Falcons have a very balanced and electric offense, while the Broncos are more of a grind it out type. I think the Broncos win, but the Falcons cover.

Broncos 28
Falcons 24

Buffalo Bills (+3) at Los Angeles Rams

The Rams haven’t really stopped the running game of a good running team yet, and the Bills running game may be one of the better ones in the NFL.

Bills 21
Rams 17

San Diego Chargers at Oakland Raiders (-4)

I don’t buy into the Raiders being ready to take the next step as much as a I did a couple weeks ago, but this is a Chargers team that is just so banged up. I think it is close but the Raiders pull away late.

Raiders 35
Chargers 30

Cincinnati Bengals at Dallas Cowboy (+2)

What a weird line, but I get it. The Bengals have a really good defense and win games with it. Meanwhile the Cowboys defense is suspect, but I just like what I have seen from Zeke and Dak too much to pick against them right now.

Cowboys 21
Bengals 20

New York Giants at Green Bay Packers (-7)

This is another tough one to pick, but give me Aaron Rodgers at home on Sunday Night Football this week.

Packers 31
Giants 21
