Offense improving, but time running out on Colin Kaepernick with San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers are in a bad spot, one of the worst in the NFL actually, and Chip Kelly needs to find an answer at a lot of different positions.

Obviously the most important is the quarterback position, but maybe the 49ers have the answer on their roster.

Colin Kaepernick has improved in each game, but much of that may have to do with the fact that he has played a worse team each week, at least defensively.

I reached out to David Fucillo of Niners Nation and he had some interesting things to say.

The 49ers offense looked better against the New Orleans Saints, but that is due as much to the Saints being an atrocious defense as anything else. Colin Kaepernick brings a lot extra with his legs, but he lacks consistent passing accuracy, which is necessary for Chip Kelly's offense. It's nice seeing the team put some points on the board, but I think there is a bit of a mirage to what we've seen.

In reality, the 49ers need to blow this thing up and start from scratch. None of Blaine Gabbert, Colin Kaepernick, and Christian Ponder are the answer long term. The team is going to have a high draft pick next spring, and I imagine quarterback will be a high priority. We don't know what they think of any of the prospects that will be available, but they will have an arsenal of picks from which to work.

While there has been improvement, Fooch doesn’t think it is enough to warrant anything more than finding another answer for 2017 and beyond.

We’ll find out even more this Sunday.
