The Arizona Cardinals kept up their end, even if it was an ugly win, it moved them forward in the Wild Card race.
Then the Saints lost to the Panthers, moving even more space between the Cardinals and some teams.
This weekend is not great in terms of games, but there are massive implications for the Cardinals and their Wild Card, and even division, chances.
Ranked from 1 to 5, the most important being a 5.
Let’s take a look.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Kansas City Chiefs (1)
The Bucs are in the ten seed right behind the Arizona Cardinals, but the Cardinals have the head to head and the Chiefs are a damn fine football team.
Miami Dolphins at Los Angeles Rams (2)
The Rams sit at the 12 seed with the same 4-5 record as the Bucs, but they hold the head to head over the Cardinals right now.
Plus, they are really pesky and seem to play Arizona tough.
Let’s go Dolphins!
Chicago Bears at New York Giants (5)
The Bears are bad… The Giants are the top Wild Card team. The Cardinals need them to start losing, but this week is probably not the week it happens.
Philadelphia Eagles at Seattle Seahawks (5)
This game is huge either way. An Eagles win keeps the Cardinals in the division race. A Seahawks win (yuck) and the Cardinals could be the next team in line for the Wild Card… Maybe even moving up to the six seed if…
Green Bay Packers at Washington Redskins (5)
What a hugely important game, if the Cardinals, Seahawks and Packers win, the Cardinals will move into the six seed, if my math is correct and the Cardinals are 4-2-1 and the Skins move to 3-3. The Packers lose, it is more distance between the Cardinals and teams chasing them, but the Cardinals get the Skins too, so get that six seed, then extend that lead in a couple of weeks.
Let’s go Packers!
