Arizona Cardinals at Atlanta Falcons: What to watch for

Julio, Dwight and Vic are looming, can the Arizona Cardinals contain them?

NFL: Arizona Cardinals at Atlanta Falcons Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

It is a few hours away and the Arizona Cardinals season is on the line. That means we need to talk about what this game means to the Arizona Cardinals and what matchups matter in this game.

Keep Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman in check

The Arizona Cardinals have a great defense statistically, but they seem to struggle every week in one facet or another. Whether it is against the Vikings and an inability to pressure Sam Bradford or stopping Colin Kaepernick, there's always one thing that seems to elude them.

If the Cardinals are going to win, they're going to have to keep everyone not named Julio Jones in check. That starts with Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman, a dynamic duo of running backs who can win in space at any time.

Stop the Falcons pass rush

D.J. Humphries and Ulrick John are starting at tackles, Dwight Freeney and Vic Beasley are rushing the passer. This is a matchup nightmare on paper. However, you can combat that with a strong running game and quick, short passing game setting up the deep passing attack. Help these young guys out as much as possible.

Don't let Julio go off

Patrick Peterson is the best corner in the league, right? Prove it, keep the most talented wide receiver in the league in check. Make sure you keep your team in the game and more importantly...

Stay in the race

It may seem simple, but the Arizona Cardinals have to keep themselves in the playoff talk. If they cannot do that this week, it is time to look at the 2017 NFL Draft and get ready for the future.
