NFC West Rankings: Does anyone have a chance against the Seattle Seahawks

Can the Arizona Cardinals catch up with the Seattle Seahawks?

It was maybe the worst week of the season to decide not to show up and play four quarters of football, but that was the reality of the Arizona Cardinals and their efforts on Sunday in their 30-20 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Why did it hurt so much?

Simple, they had a chance to gain ground on the Seahawks in the division, while putting even more separation between themselves and the Rams. The 49ers do not exactly count this year in the division race.

So, heading into week nine and their bye week, the Arizona Cardinals remain 1.5 games out of the division, but now need to continue to get help from everyone else when it comes to catching the Seahawks.

Let’s take a look:

Seattle Seahawks 4-2-1
Arizona Cardinals 3-4-1
Los Angeles Rams 3-4

San Francisco 49ers 1-6

The Seahawks lost this week to the New Orleans Saints 25-20. That loss was the opening the Arizona Cardinals needed, but they could not respond in kind. Now, the Seahawks take on the Buffalo Bills, in Seattle on Monday Night Football.

Hopefully the Bills return the favor after already having dispatched of the Arizona Cardinals, but that is a tall order, to win in Seattle.

The Cardinals stunk this weekend. They can’t lose this weekend, thank goodness.

The Rams and 49ers were each on bye weeks, but this week the Rams take on the Panthers and the 49ers take on the Saints.

Honestly… I think we need to cheer for the NFC West this weekend. Losses by the Panthers and Saints help more, in my opinion than a win by the Rams hurt. The Cardinals still have a game against the Rams, they already are a game behind the Panthers, once the records are even, so keeping the Panthers and Saints back is more important, just in my opinion.

What do you think?
