NFC Playoff Picture: How far out are the Arizona Cardinals

The NFC Playoff picture is beginning to take shape, how far out are the Arizona Cardinals?

NFL: Arizona Cardinals at Carolina Panthers Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals needed a break this weekend, and they may have gotten it, even if they dropped one more spot in the race for the NFC playoffs.

After Monday Night Football, the NFC playoff picture is even more muddied, as there is one team that is clearly superior, and then there are a lot of teams with obvious flaws.

Those flaws may mean the Arizona Cardinals, despite what historical math says, have a great shot at making the playoffs… If they can take care of their business.

The top two seeds now stand:

1. Dallas Cowboys 7-1
2. Seattle Seahawks 5-2-1

This two seed will be fantastic to watch, as all the way to the 11th seed is still very much alive for it.

Seeds 3-6

3. Atlanta Falcons 6-3
4. Minnesota Vikings 5-3
5. New Yorks Giants 5-3
6. Washington Redskins 4-3-1

All of these teams have three losses, meaning there is no one running away with anything right now.

In the hunt:

7. Detroit Lions 5-4
8. New Orleans Saints 4-4
9. Green Bay Packers 4-4
10. Philadelphia Eagles 4-4
11. Arizona Cardinals 3-4-1
12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-5
13. Los Angeles Rams 3-5
14. Carolina Panthers 3-5

Not Officially Elminated:

Chicago Bears 2-6
San Francisco 49ers 1-7

The NFC is a mess, with teams like the Packers and Vikings falling, while the Lions and Saints are winning. The Eagles look like they are coming back to earth, while the Panthers may be surging.

No one is out of it yet, except for the San Francisco 49ers.

The Cowboys look like the obvious best team in the NFC, but could the return of their veteran QB screw that all up?
