It was a disappointing first half of the season for the Arizona Cardinals, but that does not meant there were not some standouts.

Through the first eight games of the season, the Arizona Cardinals have done some good and bad things, but there is plenty to talk about.

2016 Arizona Cardinals MVP

David Johnson: This was an easy one, as Johnson has literally carried the Arizona Cardinals to where they are right now. If it wasn’t for Johnson, are they a three win team still? Johnson is on pace 1,410 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns to go along with 70 receptions for 814 yards. Those numbers are insane.

Runner Up: This was unanimous

David Johnson: See above.

Runner Up: Larry Fitzgerald

2016 Arizona Cardinals Defensive Player of the Year

Chandler Jones: Despite the hate early, Jones has been even better than advertised and has made the Arizona Cardinals pass defense the best in the NFL. He has helped take Markus Golden and Calais Campbell’s games to a new level, and has alleviated, as much as possible, the cornerback two issue. All of that to go with five sacks and two forced fumbles, Jones has been exactly what the defense needed.

Runner Up: Markus Golden

Rookie of the Year

Um…

2016 Most Improved Arizona Cardinals

Tony Jefferson: What a year Jefferson is having after he was available all off season and no one wanted to take a chance. He leads the team in solo tackles at 46, has a sack and two forced fumbles as well as two fumble recoveries. He is on the verge of being a star.

Biggest Disappointment

The Season: What was thought to be the year for the Cardinals, has been a house of horrors, leading to a 3-4-1 record. The bandwagon is emptying, but there is still plenty of time, and mediocre teams in the way, for the Arizona Cardinals to get right and ready for another deep playoff run.
