It has not been the season everyone had hoped, but for three Arizona Cardinals, they are amongst the initial Pro Bowl selections for the 2017 season.
David Johnson, Patrick Peterson and the ageless one Larry Fitzgerald will all be Pro Bowlers for 2017.
For Johnson, this is his first Pro Bowl selection and the first running back selected from the Arizona Cardinals since 1990 (Johnny Johnson). Johnson’s accomplishments this season are well known, but he has become one of the best players in the NFL.
Patrick Peterson is going to his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl and for the fifth straight time, will be going as a cornerback. Peterson joins a trio of NFL Hall of Famers, Jim Brown, Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith, as the only players in NFL history to be named to six Pro Bowls before their 27th birthday.
As for Larry Fitzgerald, he now is the franchise record holder with his 10th Pro Bowl selection. He has the second most Pro Bowl seasons of any wide receiver in NFL history and has again set himself apart not only in this season but his career with his continued ascension up the career record books in catches, yards and touchdowns.
Five Arizona Cardinals are being recognized as Pro Bowl alternates, they are:
Justin Bethel (specials)
Calais Campbell
Marcus Cooper
Mike Iupati
Chandler Jones
