Cardinals announce additions of Bryant, Dixon

The Arizona Cardinals made a trio of moves heading into Sunday’s matchup in Los Angeles.

It’s been a rough season for the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals have 16 players on IR, a significant number of them were supposed to be key contributors in 2016. While the injuries have piled up, the losses have too. The Cardinals will have their first losing season under Bruce Arians and Steve Keim, and both men will be looking to ammend that in 2017.

Looking to right the ship has already begun. Last week, they started a number of young players who have had very little playing time in the NFL. Those young players all contributed to the Cardinals 31-31 upset over Seattle. And once again this week, the Cardinals will have to do the same.

After losing Tony Jefferson and their starting right guard, Taylor Boggs, the Cardinals had a few more decisions to make. Those two players were placed on IR yesterday, leaving two spots open. Today, the Cardinals filled those holes.

To replace Jefferson, the Cardinals added Safety Christian Bryant off of the Giants PS. Bryant had spent time with the Cardinals earlier in the season, appearing in two games. He recorded an assisted tackle in those two games, and was subsequently cut. He was picked up by the Giants and placed on their Practice Squad, only to return to Arizona for the final game. He will likely get some time on the field, splitting reps with Harlan Miller.

Brian Dixon was signed as an UDFA in 2014 by the Saints. He played in all 32 games his first two seasons. He has bounced between PS and the active roster this season, making an appearance in five games while recording two tackles.

Chrstian Bryant will wear jersey #25 while Dixon will wear jersey #37.
