Arizona Cardinals sign punter Matt Wile

To their practice squad.

In a not completely unexpected move the Arizona Cardinals have signed punter Matt Wile, most recently of the Atlanta Falcons… to their practice squad.

Wile will have to prove his ability to hold for Chandler Catanzaro while also showing an ability to make kicks in an emergency situation, something he has done before in his career at least.

Wile was a free agent out Michigan in 2015, where he played in 51 games, serving as both a punter and kicker. In his career with the Wolverines, Wile punted 91 times for 3,658 yards (40.2 avg.) and made 20-of-29 field goal attempts.

In his one NFL game, Wile averaged 58 yards on two punts and recorded touchbacks on all seven kickoffs in the Falcons week 12 game against Arizona.

In a corresponding move the Arizona Cardinals released linebacker Reshard Cliett.

Does Wile take over for Butler within the week or does Butler find a way to keeps his job?
