Whether or not you like him, ESPN"s Mel Kiper is the biggest name when it comes to the NFL Draft and his mock drafts are the ones the general publis pay attention to most. He released his second mock draft for this year and he has the Arizona Cardinals selecting a player fans probably didn't know much about until a few days ago.
In the team's quest to upgrade their pass rush, Kiper projects the Cardinals will use the 29th overall pick to take Boise State edge rusher Kamalei Correa.
The Cardinals were fortunate that Dwight Freeney still had his spin move going into 2015, and they need to add more in the pass rush. Correa offers some of what we saw from a young Freeney as a quick-twitch edge rusher who can beat tackles with quickness and could be a useful situational pass-rusher early in his career for a team that needs to close out games as teams play catch-up throwing the ball. See the QB, get the QB.
After Correa didn't really show up on anyone's radar, now it is twice in just a few days he is projected to land with Arizona. It is a pick that makes sense, based on all the offseason chatter, The Cardinals want to upgrade their pass rush and Steve Keim said he wants to do it through the draft. If Correa can be a solid pass rushing specialist in Year 1, just maybe it will have been what the team needed.
