2016 NFL mock draft: Would Kevin Dodd make a good option for the Arizona Cardinals?

New, comments

A couple of new mocks have the Cardinals going with the "other" Clemson pass rusher.

Pass rush, pass rush, pass rush. If you aren't tired of hearing about what pass rusher the Arizona Cardinals might land with their first round draft pick this year, you probably will be. We have a couple of new mocks that have the Cards going with eyt a different name off the edge. This time it is Clemson's Kevin Dodd.

He appears as the guy for the Arizona Cardinals for both SB Nation's Dan Kadar and also CBS Sports' Pete Prisco.

Kadar:

Arizona may have bigger needs than a defensive end -- namely an outside linebacker or potentially a cornerback -- but an upgrade on the defensive line would be smart. Dodd can move into Frostee Rucker's starting spot on the Cardinals defensive line. The big issue for Dodd is that he was a one-year star with 24 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks. But he carries a high grade and may not be around with this pick by the time the draft comes around.

Prisco:

Improving the outside pass rush is the No. 1 priority for the Cardinals.

Prisco's prediction here makes sense, as everyone is mocking a pass rusher to the Cardinals. However, he isn't the only pass rusher on the table. Kamalei Correa, Emmanual Ogbah and Leonard Floyd were all available. He goes with Dodd.

What Kadar doesn't know is Dodd would likely be a 3-4 OLB. At 6-4, 275, he is not as big as the Cardinals like their interior linemen.

Dodd has an untiring motor and is less heralded than his teammate on the other side -- Shaq Lawson. Of course, the Cardinals also did the same thing last year, drafting Markus Golden instead of Shane Ray.

Would Dodd be a good pick for the cardinals?
