2016 NFL mock draft: Arizona Cardinals grab 2nd round talent just before the 2nd round

The pass rush need dominates again.

Our weekly foray into mock drafts brings us back to the pass rush. Since it is the biggest topic  of the offseason, thanks to a struggling pass rush in 2015 and the dominance of the Denver Broncos en route to a championship, it seems everyone is looking for their own Von Miller.

The Arizona Cardinals continue to make the pass rush a priority. That shows in the mock draft projections SB Nation's Dan Kadar gives us. Once again in his latest first round projections he has the Cardinals going with an edge player -- Clemson's Kevin Dodd.

Dodd got a second-round grade from the NFL Draft advisory board, but pass rushers with size like Dodd usually don't last that long.

Joey Bosa and Noah Spence are long gone. Shaq Lawson and Leonard Floyd are taken a few picks before Arizona. If the pass rush is a priority, Dodd makes sense.

And if you are worried about a second round grade, just know the Cardinals are a couple of picks from the second round. It isn't as if the pick is really a reach. Plus, we don't know if there were even 31 players who got a first round rating.

Dodd really only got to play in a full time role during his senior season. But he made the most of it. He  had 12.5 sacks and 24 tackles for losses. His best game of the year was in the National Championship Game, when he racked up three sacks and five tackles for losses. He did go a five-game stretch last year without a sack, but then finished off the year with five consecutive games with a sack -- eight in the final five games.

He is 6-5 and 277 pounds. At the NFL Combine, he did not complete many of the drills, but did run the 40-yard dash, completing it in 4.86 seconds.
