2016 NFL free agency: Rashad Johnson, Sean Weatherspoon have visits with other teams

Both are testing the market.

While the Arizona Cardinals have not been busy signing players, their free agents are on the move. Bobby Massie signed with the Bears and Ted Larsen has a couple of visits in the NFC West. On Thursday, we can add linebacker Sean Weatherspoon and safety Rashad Johnson to the list of those who are actively being looked at.

According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, Johnson is headed to Tennessee to visit the Titans on Friday. After seven years with the Cardinals, his time appears to be up here. The Cardinals signed veteran safety Tyvon Branch to a two-year contract.

Another defensive player, linebacker Sean Weatherspoon, is on his way to Georgia to visit the team he left last year to join the Cardinals -- the Atlanta Falcons.

Weatherspoon signed a one-year, $3.85 million contract with Arizona last year and was expected to start. A combination of injuries in training camp (and an apparent landing in Bruce Arians' doghouse) and the emergence of Kevin Minter and Deone Bucannon kept Weatherspoon off the field. Late in the season, he saw time in the team's speed package on passing downs -- a very limited role.

If he rejoins the Falcons, he would be the second free agent pickup in as many years  to have a disappointing year and then head back to his first team. Ted Ginn did it after the 2014 and had a very good 2015 season with the Panthers.

At this point, it would be surprising if either of them returns to Arizona.
