Caption This!

The sixth annual captioning contest is here!

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

As we are a little over a month into the off-season, Caption This! is back.  As regulars of this competition know, Caption This! is a captioning contest that runs throughout the off-season, ending right before the next regular season begins.

The last five years have seen high numbers of participants, and I'm guessing the sixth will be no exception.  Here's an overview of the rules: Every Sunday, you'll be presented with a picture that somehow relates to the Cardinals.  It's your job to come up with a witty, funny, clever, etc. caption that fits the image provided.  The site's readers will then vote on which caption they like best through the "rec" options in the comments.  At the end of each week, the victors from the previous round will be added to an official "Table of Winners" to be highlighted in the next week's round.

The first two Caption This! competitions were won by AlaskanCard.  The third was taken by D4, while the fourth and fifth went to Gungus, the current defending champion.  Will this year see the contest's first threepeat, or will someone usurp Gungus?

For the first time ever, a prize will be offered to the 1st place winner.  As a reward for winning the sixth Caption This!, I'd like to send a hat or shirt or some sort of Cardinals related gear from NFL.com to the leader.  Hopefully the prospect of a prize will keep things interesting throughout this off-season's run.

The official rules to Caption This!:

  • Write a caption for the featured picture. It can be what the player(s) are thinking, saying, or just your caption for the scene.
  • If you view the post, vote for someone else's caption. You can do this by selecting actions>rec underneath the person's comment. The more votes we get, the more competitive the game will be.
  • Your name will be added to the list with the total number of votes and weeks you've won.
And finally, here is this week's picture:

Good luck captioning!
