2016 NFL mock draft: Todd McShay mock 4.0 has Arizona Cardinals landing big defensive lineman

Arizona adds youth to the D-line.

John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Todd McShay has published his mock draft 4.0 and the Arizona Cardinals go a different direction. So much attention over the last few months has an edge rusher and then the offensive line, but with the team having shored those areas up, other positions can be addressed if they like the player.

In this version, he has the Cardinals taking interior defender Chris Jones out of Mississippi State.

Jones is arguably the most naturally gifted DT in this draft, which is saying something, considering I have seven DTs coming off the board in the Round 1 -- and another five in Round 2. A former high school basketball standout, Jones has a rare combination of length, strength and athleticism. If he remains focused, Jones has the potential to develop into a highly disruptive inside presence.

Jones, at 6-6 and 310 pounds, would add some youth and explosiveness to a defensive line that is a little long in the tooth. It has Calais Campbell, Frostee Rucker and Red Bryant. It also has a very young Rodney Gunter, who the team believes will be incredible, poised to blossom and take one side when either Rucker or Campbell depart. Adding Jones would potentially give them a young pair of defensive tackles who could wreak havoc the way Carolina's interior line does.

Still on the board are guys like Robert NKemdiche, Cody Whitehair, Ryan Kelly, Noah Spence, Kamalei Correa, Kevin Dodd and Mackensie Alexander. Is Jones a good pick?
