The Arizona Cardinals have lost another free agent. Veteran safety Rashad Johnson has found a new team, joining the Tennessee Titans on a one-year contract. It was reported by several, but he also announced it himself.
Johnson willl play in Dick LeBeau's defense in Tennessee, a defense he knows a bit about already, as he played under Ray Horton, a LeBeau disciple, when he was defensive coordinator in Arizona.
Johnson spent seven seasons with the Cardinals after being drafted in the third round out of NFL Draft out of Alabama.
He developed slowly, but became a very important starter and was considered by head coach Bruce Arians to be a defensive MVP on the team in 2014. He picked off nine passes in the last two seasons. His teammates feel he was robbed of a Pro Bowl selection the past two seasons.
When the Cardinals signed Tyvon Branch in free agency, it made it unlikely Johnson was going to return.
Tennessee gets a very smart player and a good leader and teammate in the locker room. We wish him luck.
