2016 NFL free agency: Arizona Cardinals to target Jason Pierre Paul, other pass rushers

They have gone after several pass rushers.

Well, we have our first names in free agent rumors for the Arizona Cardinals. Local radio host John Gambadoro is reporting four different pass rushers the Cardinals will pursue as free agent signings. Apparently, they will go after all the pass rushers.

Gambo reported Monday morning the Cardinals would go after Jason Pierre Paul, Tamba Hali, William Hayes and Mario Williams.

Williams was recently cut by the Buffalo Bills -- a combination of salary cap casualty and bad fit in Buffalo. He had only five sacks last year, the first he played under Rex Ryan. It was the lowest sack total since 2011, when he was also in a 3-4 defense and was lost for the season after only five games.

Hali, 32 years old, put up 6.5 sacks for the Kansas City Chiefs. He has been a Pro Bowler each of the past five seasons.

Hayes has yet to be a full-time starter. He is 30 years and has spent his career playing defensive end in a 4-3 defense. He played the last four seasons for the Rams and started 11 games last season. He had 6.5 sacks.

Pierre Paul is 27 years old, but played in only eight games last season, collecting only one sack. He also now has a right hand with a finger missing and another finger and a thumb that are much shorter after having fireworks explode while holding them last offseason. He had 12.5 sacks in 2014.

Arizona was led in sacks by 36-year old Dwight Freeney, who had eight last season.
