2016 NFL free agency: Bruce Irvin to sign with Oakland Raiders, Arizona Cardinals miss out again

Everyone the Cardinals are connected to to keeps landing elsewhere.

The Arizona Cardinals have apparently struck out again in the free agent market for an edge player. After seeing Jason Pierre Paul and Tamba Hali both re-sign with their 2015 team, Bruce Irvin, formerly of the Seattle Seahawks, has apparently chosen another team as well.

According to reports, he will sign with the Oakland Raiders, where he will be reunited with his former linebackers coach Ken Norton, Jr.

As to the interest the Arizona Cardinals had in Irvin, there were conflicting reports. Local radio host and reporter John Gambadoro reported Arizona had no interest in Irvin, while Cardinals beat writer Kent Somers said a pair of NFL sources said they did. Plus, Seattle radio personality Brock Huard said recently it was going to come down to the Raiders and the Cardinals.

Apparently familiarity won out, as Irvin will join Oakland and be teamed up with double All-Pro Khalil Mack.

If the Cardinals are going to sign a pass rusher, they are running out of their top targets. Three of the four names that surfaced early on are now off the board.
