While Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Calais Campbell has finally chosen an agent, another player is in a position to need to hire another person to be his. Eugene Parker, who represents many NFL players, including Cardinals star receiver Larry Fitzgerald, has reportedly died at age 60.
Parker is part of Relativity Sports, so Fitzgerald could change representation to one of the other agents of the firm, but it will be inevitable he has someone new.
Fitz enters the final year of a two-year, $22 million contract. His future with the team is unknown beyond this season. Bruce Arians suggests Fitz might want to retire. Fitz himself told me he could "play well into his 50s." He was clearly joking, but he could play several more seasons. The team would like him to never wear another uniform.
Parker was influential. He has represented Hall of Famers and All-Pros.
May he rest in peace and may may his family, friends and clients find comfort in their time of loss.
