The Arizona Cardinals reportedly are adding another member to their Ring of Honor in the upcoming season. The team announced a press conference for Wednesday afternoon with team president Michael Bidwill and former player Roy Green. AZCentral's Kent Somers reported what was suspected -- Green will be added to the Ring of Honor.
Green played for the organization from 1979 to 1990. He began his career as a kick returner and a defensive back. Two seasons into his career, he would begin to play receiver and also play on defense.
Green will be the first Cardinal in the Ring of Honor to have played for the team both in St. Louis and in Arizona.
When he retired, he held numerous receiving records for the franchise, pretty much all of which have since been broken by Larry Fitzgerald.
He was a two-time Pro Bowler and a two-time All-Pro.
I remember the very end of his career. He was in his 30s when the team came to Arizona, and he was a shell of himself. He was truly one of the Cardinals greats and it is fantastic he is finally getting in.
